In our culture today the call to the religious life is a tough one to answer. On top of all the emotional and spiritual challenges, there are many forces that tell us that we won’t be happy if we devote our lives to God. Sometimes even our family and our friends can be more of an obstacle than a help. Maybe you want to be a mother with children and a family to care for, but something is pulling you to consider the religious way of life. What we have to remember is that to help someone uncover their vocation is to help someone find a true and authentic relationship with Christ. We want to find joy in this life and we want our friends to have this same experience.

We as brothers and sisters in Christ should encourage one another to seek Christ so that He might lead us where we will find the joy that we desire. So let’s work together to build a culture of vocations where no one is mocked for considering the religious life, but all are encouraged to discover what God has in store for us.
